Experienced executives and next-generation leaders will come together in a unique two-year training program covering the full spectrum of leadership skills.
Alexandria, Va. (April 3, 2018) – Idealliance, the global association for the Graphic Communications Industry, introduces a new Strategic Management Program that will help sharpen the management skills needed by current and future business leaders in our changing industry. The new program is a unique industry initiative that brings together the association’s long-standing CEO Roundtable for current company leaders and NexGen Leaders Program for up-and-coming executives.
“One word describes our industry—Change! To navigate the future, industry executives and the next generation of leaders—whether owner-operated business entrepreneurs or mid-to-large company executives—require management and leadership development with their peers,” says Idealliance President and Chief Executive Officer David Steinhardt.
“The leaders of the future face new demands as the graphic communications industry undergoes transformation in every area, from its customers and technology to its services and staffing,” he continues. “A transforming industry presents significant challenges, but it also opens up new opportunities for those prepared to create and manage them—and fully preparing today’s and tomorrow’s leaders is the objective of our new Strategic Management Program.”
The two-year program curriculum features three in-person seminars annually, with instruction in every aspect of company leadership, from personal leadership skills to executive management of technology, sales, company culture, human resources, finance, and change. Noted experts in various disciplines will lead and provide training on specific units, and industry leaders and practitioners will be invited to present case studies that illustrate core knowledge and demonstrate real-world industry applications.
“In the past, sessions of CEO Roundtable and NexGen Leaders were held separately, but our new program now brings the groups together at the same location and during the same time,” says Steinhardt. “This will open opportunities for informal networking and cross-pollination of ideas and insights from the differing viewpoints of each group, while breakout sessions will enable CEO and NexGen participants to focus on their distinct needs.”
Each day-and-a-half session comprises periods of joint instruction followed by focused peer group-type breakouts. Pre- and post-session assignments and a dedicated online forum for ongoing discussions ensure that the training continues throughout the year and what is learned is applied in the attendees’ businesses.
“Learning occurs when regular interaction and application of content occurs over time,” says program facilitator Tom Carroll, Principal of TMC Leadership Consulting and former RR Donnelley Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer. “Since leadership is not something people turn on and off, we have designed a program that employs the ‘drip method’ of learning, comprising pre-work to learn the concepts, an in-person session to drill-down and reinforce the ideas through real-world case studies and peer discussions, followed by post-session work to apply what you‘ve learned in your business.”
Sessions will be held in Chicago at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare on May 14-15, September 11-12, and November 7-8. Registration fee (through June 30) for Idealliance members is $850 per session for new NexGen Leader participants (non-members: $1,150) and $950 for new CEO participants (non-members: $1,300).
