About the Trainers:
Chuck Schonert – G7 Expert Trainer, Idealliance Director of Research & Development
Chuck creates content for educational, information, and outreach platforms that serve the global graphic communications marketplace and acts as trainer, while also supporting Idealliance’s team of worldwide experts and trainers for ongoing educational programs. Chuck also guides development of best practices and standards domestically and globally through our community of working groups, industry groups, and ultimately ISO while maintaining the position of Idealliance’s Print Properties Committee as the preeminent global research and standard-development. Chuck has an extensive background in print production, print management, color management, and aligning this work across multiple print facilities, while also supporting new print technology testing & development, training, and implementation. Chuck has been incorporating G7 methodology in print production since 2007, and is an active member of the Print Properties Committee.
Ron Ellis – G7 Expert Trainer, BrandQ Expert Trainer, Chair of Idealliance Print Properties Committee & Global Print Supply Chain Expert
Ron Ellis is a consultant specializing in color management, automation and workflow integration. An Idealliace BrandQ Expert, BrandQ Expert Trainer, G7 Expert, G7 Process Control Expert, G7 Expert Trainer, and chair of the Print Properties Committee (PPC), and member of the Idealliance Advisory Council. Ron has performed hundreds of G7 training and calibrations. He has conducting training and consulting for a wide range of customers in Europe, Asia, and North America. Well versed in ISO standards, Ron specializes in creating and implementing working spaces for brands and agencies that allow them to work more efficiently with vendors, saving both time and money.
Paul Happ – G7 Expert Trainer, Ricoh Color Management, & Idealliance Print Properties Committee Member
Paul Happ is a Principal Consultant, Color Management for RICOH USA. In this role, he helps companies align their color strategies with their business goals. Regardless of environment – commercial printers, in-plants, publishing, or design houses – his passion is helping companies achieve greater value from their investments, improve profitability, increase quality, and automate productivity while delivering color accuracy and consistency. Paul has an extensive background with commercial printing in offset and digital environments, holding positions such as Prepress Technical Analyst and Prepress Manager, for companies such as FedEx Office and Deluxe Corporation. He was first introduced and implemented the G7 Methodology in 2007. After joining RICOH in 2012, he became an Idealliance Color Management Professional Master, Certified G7 Expert, and G7 Expert Trainer.

This past week, Idealliance members of the Print Properties Committee (PPC) and the Committee for Graphic Arts Technologies Standards (CGATS) gathered at Fujifilm Graphic Systems in Chicago, IL, for standards and working group collaboration.
For many printers and print buyers, accurate color and the ability to match the proof are important. The goal of accurate printing seems basic and fundamental, but it is not as easy as it seems. Printers and their clients often complain about the challenges of matching color. While print today has moved much closer to manufacturing, perfect color is still not guaranteed.
