Automated press control system demonstrates high level of real-time color control to maintain G7 print compliance, becomes just the third system to achieve this Idealliance certification.

Alexandria, Va. (April 24, 2018)- Idealliance, a global thought leader in the graphic communications industry and a non-profit organization with 11 strategically located offices around the world, has awarded G7® Press Control System Certification to the MeasureColor system by Colorware.  An Idealliance certified G7 Press Control System automates the process of measuring special G7 gray control patches. Any deviations in those patches are then used to guide the system back to its ideal “G7 appearance.”  Utilizing G7 metrics that have been added to a press control system allows the press operator to see in real time how close the printing is to the G7 targets and what adjustments are needed to achieve G7 compliance. The testing program is based on a series of sample data representing different printing conditions.

Through an intensive evaluation of print technology, including data and system analysis, at the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Print Application Laboratory (PAL), the MeasureColor system met all the requirements of the Idealliance certification program as set forth by the association’s Print Properties and Colorimetric Council, which continues to raise the bar for all print technology hardware and software performance.

“Idealliance is proud to certify MeasureColor by Colorware as a G7 Press Control System,” says Jordan Gorski, Idealliance Director of Certification Programs. “As a leader in automated print control, MeasureColor helps press operators dial in and control G7 gray balance and tonality in real time to achieve G7 compliance through process control and standardization. Colorware’s efforts to put effective and efficient tools in the hands of press operators is demonstrated through the G7 Press Control System certification.”

“At Colorware, we believe in standardized printing processes and G7 brings huge benefits to printers and their customers,” says Erik Koldenhof, Technical Director of Colorware, who led efforts to achieve certification. “MeasureColor now adds specialized, yet easy to understand G7 analysis tools for both print operators and quality managers.”

“MeasureColor has always been known for its great interfaces. Its G7 interface does not disappoint,” says Ron Ellis, President, Ron Ellis Consulting. “The best part is an easy to understand G7 screen that tells the operator how to adjust for both solids and gray balance. While typical G7 interfaces report, the MeasureColor G7 interface gives press operators the info they need to adjust the press to their G7 print condition.”

“We are delighted to award this certification to MeasureColor and welcome them to this distinguished group of G7 Press Control System certified systems in the world. The ability to achieve this certification and offer the industry this type of automation and process control is a tremendous differentiator,” says Timothy Baechle, Idealliance Vice President, Global Print Technologies & Workflows.

G7 Press Control System Certification and all Idealliance System Certification programs are the most recognized international specifications for print technology, and allow manufacturers to demonstrate their abilities for highly consistent color reproduction. These certification programs, driven by the Print Properties and Colorimetric Council, deliver independent third-party certification for equipment manufacturers who continuously strive to innovate through print technology to expand the limits of print production.

The Idealliance G7 Press Control System Certification process comprises testing and certification in the areas of color management monitoring and control in real time to maintain consistent appearance of the output device. It considers the system’s ability to monitor and manage G7 gray control patches in real time, and formulate what adjustments are needed to achieve G7 compliance to align with established industry tolerances for excellence. Idealliance is recognized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as the largest certifying body in the graphic and visual communications industry.
