PRISM Metadata

PRISM PUBLISHING REQUIREMENTS FOR INDUSTRY STANDARD METADATA

The PRISM Working Group initiated its work in 1999, released PRISM Metadata Specification 1.0 in 2001. PRISM addressed publishing across print and online media platforms by releasing PRISM 2.0 in 2008. Today PRISM Specifications have been updated to address mobile content distribution as well. If you are in the process of defining a metadata vocabulary with associated controlled vocabularies so that your content can be managed in a DAM, you can use the core PRISM Metadata Specifications free of charge.

In addition, PRISM PUBLISHING REQUIREMENTS FOR INDUSTRY STANDARD METADATA serve as the basis for four use case scenario solutions:

Send Content to multiple Licensors, Syndicators & Aggregators:

The PRISM Aggregator Message, or PAM, can be used free of charge to send your content to others across the media supply chain.

Implement a Multi-Channel Publishing System:

If you are establishing a source content repository to publish across media channels, use the PRISM Source Vocabulary, or PSV

Capture Content from Websites:

The PRISM Aggregator Message for Web content, or PAMW, can be used free of charge to automate content capture from websites for archive, reuse and monetization.

Deliver Static (PDF) or dynamic (HTML5) issue/article content and associated metadata for distribution to print, online and mobile platforms:

If you are looking for a strategy for moving from the delivery of complete issue PDFs to article PDFs and finally HTML5-based articles, the PRISM aggregator message Package (pamP) will be helpful.
